After work I stopped by the florist a couple blocks away to pick up an order I placed earlier in the week. I had ordered hundreds of dollars worth of flowers (1000 petals, 3 half dozen roses in red, off-red and a red/yellow hybrid) for a scene in the commercial. The girl behind the counter chatted me up as she finished wrapping everything.
Y: “You must be planning something really special with all of this. Your girlfriend’s really lucky.”
Me: “Uhh… you know, actually, I didn’t really buy flowers for the last girl I was with. I did once or twice, but she didn’t really seem into them. Oh, and I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Y: “What! All girls appreciate flowers, even if they say they don’t. Maybe that’s why she broke up with you.”
Me: “…”
Well damn. Harshness.
